Moldavites are known for their distinctive shapes and beautiful bottle green colour. It is no wonder that they have become very popular in the jewellery industry. The fact that it is tektite (natural glass) means that it is very workable. It can be cut into a variety of shapes. However, raw moldavites are also suitable for use in jewellery because of their unique and unmistakable appearance.

There is a need for caution in a purchase of polished moldavites. Recently, there have been more and more cases of buyers being scammed and a piece of glass or plastic being inserted into jewellery instead of moldavite. The bubbles, which are absolutely typical for this tektite, make it easy to recognise genuine polished moldavite.
